Standard 625 Appendix A: Elementary Work (Canadian Aviation Regulations)
The 29 elementary maintenance tasks permitted under CARs Standard 625 Appendix A — tire replacement, spark plug cleaning, filter changes, and more — that owners can perform on small privately operated aircraft.
Standard 625 Appendix A outlines elementary work tasks that do not require certified maintenance personnel. A non-exhaustive list:
- Fabric patches (≤15 cm) without structural impact
- Tire, wheel, and landing gear component replacement
- Non-structural fairing repairs
- Engine maintenance (spark plugs, filters, oil, compression checks)
- Battery and electrical component service
- Balloon and glider rapid-assembly component replacement
- Cabin furnishing and upholstery repair
- Avionics rack-mounted component replacement
- Visual inspections and operational checks at intervals under 100 hours
