Presentation from our April 7th meeting with Nav Canada's Mark Maramieri

Summary of NavCanada's Mark Maramieri's presentation on FIR NOTAM requirements for sightseeing/orbiting the CN Tower, including the prior-permission-request procedure and timing recommendations.

Dear members,

This is a summary based on NavCanada's Mark Maramieri's presentation at our April 7 meeting.

Below is a screen shot of my ForeFlight iPad showing the FIR NOTAM with the required email:
CYTZ_PriorPermissionRequired_REQUEST@navcanada.ca

Note that this is a FIR NOTAM (not currently mentioned in the CFS, nor in the regular NOTAM section).

Preferred sightseeing/orbiting CN Tower times are normally less busy — early morning and early evening hours. However, ATC may refuse requests anytime due to high traffic.

No reply to the email should be interpreted as negative. Do not call YTZ tower from the air while approaching their Class C airspace.

PPR rules with prior email must be followed.

You can always fly under VFR rules at night when the tower is not operational. See CFS for detailed times.
